Method 1: Program Onn Universal Remote without Code
The first method to program the onn Universal Remote control is by automatically letting the remote detect your TV or other device. To pair your remote without code, follow these steps to use the Auto Code Entry method.
- Switch on your TV or other device that you wish to control with the Onn Universal Remote control.
- Press and hold the Program/Setup button on your Onn Universal Remote until the Power button light up.
- Now, press the TV button or the other device button (eg. Audio, DVD, Cable). The Power button light will blink once and then stay on.
- Now, point the remote at your TV (or at the device you are programming for) and keep the OK button pressed until the TV switches off.
- As soon as the TV switches itself off, release the OK button. This helps to lock the code.
- Now power on your device using the Remote and test the remote’s basic functions to see if it responds to the remote.
If it does, you have successfully programmed the Onn Universal Remote to your TV. If not, you might want to try the second Direct Code Entry method.
Method 2: Program Onn Universal Remote with Code

- Power up your device. Press and hold the Program/Setup button on the remote until the power button light up.
- Press the TV or other device button. The power button light blink once and stay on.

- If the right code was entered, the red light on your power button will shut off.
- If the light stays on, wrong code has been entered. In that case try entering other remaining codes one by one until the red light shut off.

I have a universal ONN Remote for a LG plasma screen T.V. I’ve tried all the codes for an LG T.V and none seem to have worked. But what did work was a code from a YouTube video for LG. That code is 5501 but it only makes the remote work partially (turn on, volume up and down, and mute I.e) any tips or codes I can use for a fully functioning remote?
