LG rolls out Android 12 update for LG V60 ThinQ

Last year, LG promised to release an Android 12 update to the eligible models. LG is living up to its promise of releasing the new update. The company has now started pushing the major upgrade to the LG V60 ThinQ. The new update comes one month after the LG Velvet’s update. A bunch of users had already received the new update, at the moment, the OTA is rolling to the T-Mobile variant in the US. Usually, LG first released big updates in mainland Korea, but, surprisingly this build goes live in the US first, wider rollout should follow in the coming weeks. The new build weighs around 1.17GB in size on the LG V60 ThinQ, Yes, it requires more data compared to the monthly security updates.

LG V60 ThinQ was announced in 2020 with Android 10 OS. Last year, it received its first major OS upgrade – the Android 11 update. Now LG has started rolling out the second major OS build to the flagship-grade LG V60 ThinQ. Yes, you can now upgrade your LG V60 ThinQ to Android 12 OS.

Moving to the features and changes, then LG kicks off the Android 12 update with features like privacy indicators, better permissions, a privacy dashboard, the ability to block camera and mic access, Safety and emergency section in Settings, Lockdown option in the power menu, IoT control menu in the notification panel, a new function to free up space for apps that are not in use for months, and a few more. Apart from that, the new build brings March 2022 monthly security patch. As per the official changelog, the upgrade is rolling with Android 12 OS, security and system improvements, bugs fixes, and more stability.

If you’re using the LG V60 ThinQ and want to update your phone to the newer version, then you can head over to the System updates section in the Settings app and check for the new updates. In case the update is not available on your phone, you can wait for a few days.
