Earlier this week, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that the company may increase prices on some of its products due to the ongoing memory shortage, which has driven up memory prices. But what about the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro? How much will the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro lineup cost?
Let’s find out.
The Wall Street Journal and research firm TechInsights teamed up to share a new report estimating the pricing of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro. According to the report, the 256GB storage component on the baseline iPhone 17 Pro cost Apple $13 last year, a figure that could rise to $51 for the iPhone 18 Pro. Similarly, the 12GB DRAM that cost Apple $39 on the iPhone 17 Pro could surge to $145 on the upcoming base model in the Pro lineup.
Apple’s production cost for the baseline iPhone 17 Pro was reportedly around $582, with that figure expected to climb to $726 for the iPhone 18 Pro due to rising memory prices.
Additionally, multiple reports indicate that Apple is transitioning to a new camera system for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup with a variable-aperture lens that could represent a cost increase of at least 50% over the previous system.
TechInsights’ research points out that Apple had a 47% margin on the iPhone 17 Pro’s base model with 256GB onboard storage. This quotation is for the model selling in the US and is priced at $1,099. The report suggests that maintaining the same margin on the iPhone 18 Pro would require a starting price of $1,371, and with the additional cost of the new camera system factored in, the base model could inch closer to $1,399.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max, the most premium model in the lineup, is also anticipated to be priced higher than its predecessor, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which was available at $1,199 in the United States for the 256GB variant.
