iOS 14.7 RC and iPadOS 14.7 RC updates are now available

After pushing about a few beta updates for iOS 14.7 & iPadOS 14.7, it is finally available as a release candidate. It means it is only one step away from the Public build. In Fact, it is the same build that will go live next week for everyone. Both iOS 14.7 Release Candidate and iPadOS 14.7 Release candidate are available to support iPhones and iPads. About a few months back during the iOS 14.5 beta testing, we waited so long for a release candidate. With every beta update, we thought this was the last beta, Apple surprise every time with a new beta update. But no same scenario in the case of iOS 14.7 and iPadOS 14.7. This is an important update because it will bring full support for the MagSafe battery pack for iPhone 12 devices.

iOS 14.7 RC update

Along with iOS 14.7 RC and iPadOS 14.7 RC, Apple has also released watchOS 7.6 RC, tvOS 14.7 RC, and macOS Big Sur 11.5 RC. Talking about the build number, both updates come with the 18G68 version. And you already know it will be the same for the public build which releases in a week. Since it is the conclusive update, it weighs more than 4GB depending on the iPhone/iPad model you have.

Now coming to the iOS 14.7 RC features, then expect all the features you have tested in the recent beta updates. Here is what you will find on the Software Update page:

iOS 14.7 includes support for MagSafe Battery Pack, shared credit limits in Apple card Family, and other improvements and bug fixes for your iPhone.

As we know these are not all the changes you get to see, Apple doesn’t mention all the changes in the update settings. So expect a few more changes in the latest iOS 14.7 RC and iPadOS 14.7 RC.

Apple released iOS 14.7 RC and iPadOS 14.7 RC for developers as well as beta testers. So if you are in the iOS 14.7 beta you will receive the update directly on your iPhone or iPad. Since it is the same as a stable build, you will not receive the update next week when it will be available to everyone. In case you don’t get the update notification, go to Settings > Software Update. Click on Download & Install to get the update.

In case if you are on the iOS 14.6 public build, then you need to install the beta profile to get new beta updates. For users with iOS 15 beta need to downgrade their iPhones using IPSW to go back to iOS 14.6 and then install the iOS 14 beta profile. Once you install the beta profile, you will also get incremental beta updates. So, if you want to try new beta updates, you can install the beta profile with these steps.

Install iOS 14.7 Beta Profile and iPadOS 14.7 Beta Profile

  1. Go to the Apple Beta Software program site.
  2. Then scroll down a bit and click on Sign in if you have Apple ID.
  3. On the next page, select the correct OS for your devices like iOS 14 or iPadOS 14.
  4. Scroll down till Getting Started and click on Enroll your iOS device.
  5. Now you need to install a profile from the next Page. For this, click on the Download Profile.
  6. After installing the Profile, reboot your device. And you are ready to install iOS 14.7 Release Candidate on your iPhone.

After installing the beta profile, you can go to Settings > Software Update to install the latest update on your iPhone or iPad. You can also install iOS 14.7 Release Candidate with the full IPSW file using Finder or iTunes.
