Huawei has officially unveiled HarmonyOS 7 at its latest developer conference. The new update introduces a redesigned interface heavily inspired by Apple’s Liquid Glass design. Let’s take a look at some of the key features introduced with HarmonyOS 7.
Performance Improvements
Like most major OS releases, HarmonyOS 7 focuses on a major performance boost system-wide. Huawei claims the update delivers up to 15% better overall performance. The performance improvement includes faster app launches, improved responsiveness, enhanced gaming performance, smoother system animations, and more.
Liquid Glass UI like Design
HarmonyOS 7 introduces translucent interface elements across the operating system. You will find its implementation in sliders, buttons, system controls, lock screen clocks, and more. Huawei also added dynamic lightning and reflection effects that respond to user interactions.
3D Lock Screen Effects
The update also brings new depth-based lock screen effects that can transform photos into interactive 3D-style scenes. It is quite similar to Apple’s cinematic and depth features in the lock screen. However, Huawei has made it better with different types of clock styles and additional personalization options.
Agentic AI
HarmonyOS 7 introduces Agentic AI to its built-in assistant, making life easier. It offers more natural conversations, better context awareness, and the ability to perform actions across apps instead of simply answering questions. This allows users to complete tasks through voice or text commands with less manual interaction. The AI response is faster and more accurate as well. It also enhances the generative AI features available in the operating system.
AI Photo Editing
The built-in photo editor is also getting a range of AI-powered tools. Users can use AI to remaster photos, generate new content, regenerative fill, or erase objects and make other edits with minimal effort. In addition, HarmonyOS 7 introduces several new personalization options for more ways to customize the look and feel of their devices.
These are some of the major changes that HarmonyOS 7 brings, or at least the key features highlighted by Huawei during its announcement. The HarmonyOS 7 developer beta is now available for eligible devices, while the stable public release is expected to arrive later this fall.
