When you’re trying to help someone troubleshoot a smartphone problem, having access to their screen makes things a lot easier. Instead of installing a specific screen-sharing app, you can use Facebook Messenger to share your screen on iPhone.
Here’s how to share your iPhone screen with someone on Facebook Messenger.
Like it or not, Facebook Messenger is the communication tool for millions of people out there. It is a rapidly growing platform. It connects regular friends and buyers and sellers.
Since all these apps are from Facebook, they are all connected with each other. So, apart from messaging people only on Messenger, you can chat with people on Instagram, Facebook, Portal and Oculus (Coming Soon). This means you can talk with people on other apps like Facebook, Instagram from within Messenger.
Messenger also has the ability to share the screen of your iPhone with someone. In this tutorial, we will show you how you can do that. Read through:

Steps to Share iPhone Screen using Facebook Messenger:
- Launch the Facebook Messenger app on your iPhone.
- Tap on the conversation with whom you want to share your screen.
- Start a video call by pressing the Video button on the top right corner.
- When the video call begins, swipe up from the bottom of the video call screen to show more controls.
- Tap on the Share Your Screen option.
- Tap on Start Sharing when prompted.
- You will now see the default iOS Broadcast popup that’s used for sharing your iPhone screen with different apps. Make sure that Messenger App is checked then tap the “Start Broadcast” button.
Messenger app will now disable your camera and you are now sharing your screen with that person.
Unlike Android, the Messenger app doesn’t show the picture-in-picture window of the other participants in the call. When you’re sharing your screen, you won’t be able to see their video, but you can still hear what they’re saying.
If you see a red pill around the time in the top-left corner of the iPhone, it means that you’re sharing the screen.
Once you’re done, go back to the Messenger App, on the video call interface tap on the Stop Sharing option when you want to stop sharing your screen. Messenger App will now stop sharing your screen.
Note: if you don’t want notifications to pop up in the middle of the call, make sure to turn on do not disturb
We always expect apps like these to offer text-based services only. Only recently, they have started to move out of the box and is transformed into what it is today. Hopefully, in the future, it will add even more features that will make conversations with people more fun.
Not everyone uses Facebook Messenger. So, if you want to share your screen with your work colleagues, you can share it using Zoom or Google Meet as well.
