Snapchat on iOS recently received the Dark Mode feature. But still, the feature is not available for Android users as of now. Snapchat is a popular and unique multimedia messaging app which released back in 2011. And now over billions of users have tried the app on both iOS and Android. But it is missing an important feature that everyone wants and that is the dark mode feature. Here you will know how to use dark mode on Snapchat for Android.
Snapchat started rolling out this feature starting with iPhone and iPad. But the Snapchat team is still testing this feature for Android. But I know many of us can’t wait to try dark mode on Snapchat. And luckily it is possible for Android users.
Snapchat Dark Mode on iOS can be enabled from the App Appearance section. On the options page, you will find Match System, Always Light, and Always Dark. If you are using Dark Mode for a while on any other app, then you must be aware of these options and what it is used for.
Android is basically the platform with freedom and allows users to change system configurations. But for some root level tasks, you need root access. And as of now, you can root many Android phones. You must be thinking about why we are discussing roots here. Well to enable dark mode on Snapchat Android, it requires root access. So, let’s check the steps.
Steps to Enable Dark Mode on Snapchat for Android
All thanks to Quinny899 a recognized developer and XDA member. He reported that the dark mode can be enabled with this method using the Preference Manager app. You can follow the steps below to enable the dark mode if you have already root access on your phone.
- Download the Preferences Manager app which we will be using for this method.
- Open the app and make sure to give root permission.
- Now scroll down and select the Snapchat app.
- Then open the APP_START_EXPERIMENT_PREFS.xml file.
- Search for Dark_Mode and enable it.
- That’s it, the dark mode will be enabled on your Snapchat app.
Snapchat users who are using it on iOS are already loving this feature, and it’s just a matter of time when Android users will also get to experience this feature. But in case if you can’t wait any longer and have root access, then take the advantage of root and enjoy Dark Mode on Snapchat before the official release.
Since Snapchat is testing this feature on Android, you may find some appearance not optimized for Dark Mode. But overall, the App is usable without any major issues.
Snapchat will be bringing dark mode on its Android app. So, if you don’t have a rooted phone, then I will suggest waiting for the update with Dark Mode. Hopefully, Snapchat will not take much time to implement Dark Mode on Snapchat Android. But if you already have root access, then it’s a chance for you to experience this new feature.
So that’s all on how to enable dark Mode on Snapchat for Android. If you are already using the Dark Mode on your Snapchat, then let us know your experience and should others wait for this feature.
