OnePlus has recently released the latest Android 11 based OxygenOS 11 which is quite similar to One UI in terms of interface. But features on both custom OS are different. There is one good feature in OxygenOS that allows users to enjoy dark mode on all the apps including apps that don’t support dark mode. Here you will know how to force apps to run dark mode on OxygenOS 11.
OnePlus is known for its fluid OS that runs smoothly without any issues. Also, there are a bunch of popular features including the Always on Display (released with OxygenOS 11). There is one more interesting feature that forces third party apps to run with dark mode even if these apps doesn’t have a dark mode option.
How to Force Apps to run Dark Mode on OxygenOS 11
Oxygen OS comes with many features but some features are hard to find in settings. And force dark mode is also a feature that is complex to find in settings unless you use the search function.
You can use the force dark mode feature for third party apps like Amazon, Facebook, Games, and a lot more. I have tried this feature and it works great. The forced dark mode feature is available on OxygenOS 10 but you may not find it effective as compared to Oxygen OS 11. Let’s now jump into the method to Force Dark Mode for all Apps on OxygenOS 11.
- Open Settings on your OnePlus device.
- Then open the Display setting on your phone.
- In the Display settings scroll down and open the Dark Mode option which will be available under Scenes.
- Now enable the dark mode on your phone.
- Then go to ‘Manage apps in dark mode’.
- It will list all the dark mode unsupported apps.
- Now enable the dark mode on the apps that you want to use in the black theme.
Now the OS will run with forced dark mode. I have tested some unsupported apps and the forced dark mode works great.
There are many advantages of dark mode such as less battery consumption, less eye strain, and more. Since the device is forcing apps to run on Dark Mode, you may notice some issues such as search text not visible and a few minor issues. But it will not affect the day to day uses of the app.
The forced dark mode feature was introduced earlier but with updates, it is improved a lot. And also in Oxygen OS 11 the dark mode settings placement has been changed as compared to the OxygenOS 10. If you want to use forced dark mode for all the apps on your OnePlus phones, then this guide will help you a lot.
