Almost all the smartphone manufacturers are adding AI features to their smartphones. And of course, OnePlus is one of them. In their latest OxygenOS 16, they have added numerous AI features such as Plus Mind, AI Writer, AI Translate, etc. These features are intended to improve user experience by complementing their tasks. However, while the features are surely useful, some may find them unnecessary on their smartphones. Not everyone wants a bunch of AI features on their phones anyway.
Further, apart from personal preferences, these AI features also take up a lot of RAM and storage. In some cases, they may also slow down the system or make it less responsive. What’s even more irritating is that all these features are enabled by default. This means the features continue to take up space and affect the system in the background, even when the user does not use them.
To help you with that, here’s a detailed guide that will guide you on how to disable AI features on any OnePlus phone running the latest OxygenOS 16.
Why should I turn off AI features on my OnePlus phone?
As said earlier, not every AI feature is useless. Some functions like AI erase and Mind can be very useful. However, certain features like AI Writer and AI Translate aren’t very useful, especially in day-to-day life usage. In such cases, it’s better to turn them off. Thankfully, OnePlus allows users to disable individual features. So let’s have a quick look at the step-by-step guide on disabling these features.
Step-by-step guide: Disable AI features on OnePlus’ OxygenOS 16
Before we begin, please note that the method mentioned below only works on the latest OxygenOS 16-powered smartphones. Also, certain budget phones, despite running on the latest OxygenOS version, don’t support all AI features due to hardware limitations.
Step 1: Open Settings on your OnePlus phone.

Step 2: On the main menu, scroll down and find the “OnePlus AI” section. Then, click on it.

Step 3: From here, you will be able to access all the OnePlus AI features.

Step 4: Now, select the feature you want to disable and turn off the toggle. For example, I selected the Mind Space and then turned off its toggle. This ensures the feature will never open and is disabled from the system.

Step 5: Repeat the same step to disable the AI features you want. If you want to disable all the AI features, make sure you have turned their respective toggles off and have also disabled the “AI Service Engine.”

Final Words
That’s it. It was quite easy to turn off AI features on the OnePlus phone, wasn’t it? Also, make sure you have disabled all the AI features carefully. Certain functions, such as AI eraser, that are present on the apps and are an integral part of that app, cannot be disabled. These features do not take system storage or affect everyday usage of the software, so even if they had a disable option, it wouldn’t make much sense. Last but not least, you can always enable the features whenever you want, by going to the same Settings and OnePlus AI menu. You, the user, have the ultimate freedom to choose what should happen on your phone and what should not.
