Letโ€™s be honest, most of us like to enjoy our favorite movies or games on a large screen. While MacBooks boast an amazing display that’s great for consuming media and gaming, they can’t match the experience of a bigger display. However, if you own a smart TV like a Toshiba TV, you can easily connect your MacBook to your TV and enjoy a larger screen experience.

There could be other reasons why you might want to connect your MacBook to your TV. Many Toshiba TVs still come with obsolete media players, making it tough to play media smoothly. Additionally, they lack support for various file types and, most importantly, a good web browser. Therefore, itโ€™s ideal to have your MacBook connected to your Toshiba TV.

Another great reason to know how to connect MacBook to Toshiba TV is for presentations and other important tasks suitable for bigger screen. No matter your reason, you can follow this guide.

There are two ways to connect your MacBook Pro or Air to a Toshiba TV. First, there is the wireless method. Second, you can choose to do it with an HDMI cable. Since the wireless method is an easy and cable-free option, let’s talk about it first.

  2. Then, navigate down using the remote and select the Display & Sound option
  3. Now, scroll through the list using the remote and find Apple AirPlay & HomeKit.

How to Connect a MacBook to a Toshiba TV through HDMI

Since most Toshiba TVs come with an HDMI port, connecting your Mac through an HDMI cable shouldn’t be a problem. However, you’ll need to ensure that your MacBook Pro or Air also has an HDMI port to establish a connection. For those who don’t have a MacBook with a dedicated HDMI port, you’ll need a USB-C to HDMI adapter.

Once you have the cables and an adapter of your choice with you, simply connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI port of your Toshiba TV. Next, connect another end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI port on your MacBook.

If your MacBook doesn’t have an HDMI port, connect one end of the HDMI adapter to the USB-C port of your Mac. Then, insert the HDMI cable’s other end to the HDMI port from the adapter. Remember, most Toshiba TV models have an HDMI port at the back as seen in the image below.

Now that you have connected both ends of the HDMI cable to the TV and MacBook, it’s time for you to fiddle around with the input source of your TV. You’ll have to change the input source on your Toshiba TV to HDMI.

Then, you’ll see the option to Mirror Display or Extend Display or use it as Primary Display. You can go to System Settings > Display to change related settings.

Note: You should make sure to choose the right resolution and refresh rate for this method to work. You can always tweak these settings by navigating to System Settings > Displays.

I always prefer the wired method, unless the required cable is not available or the TV is too far away.
