Google releases Android 14 QPR3 Beta for Pixel Phones

Google kick-starts the beta testing of Android 14 QPR3 for Pixel phones. The update is slated for release to the public in June, following the stable release of Android 14 QPR2 next month. The testing has already begun and it brings numerous changes to the eligible devices, read on to know more.

For eligibility, the beta testing goes live for Pixel 5a, Pixel 6 series, Pixel 7 series, Pixel 8 series, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet. If you are already on the QPR2 build, then you will receive the QPR3 as an incremental update over-the-air, if you don’t want to move to QPR3, then you need to opt out of the beta testing program immediately.

The beta update is seeding with the AP21.240119.009 version number with a size of around 275MB. Google has officially shared the details on the Android Beta subreddit and developers’ website. In terms of changes, the update brings the February 2024 monthly security patch.

The release notes also confirm that the Circle to Search feature is now available to beta testers, it was unintentionally released only to non-beta users initially. Apart from that, Mishaal Rahman shared a deep-dive thread on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a number of changes coming with today’s beta release.

Mishaal’s thread reveals a slightly updated Easter Egg with a triangular shape, revamped chat bubble UI for tablets, Screen protector mode shifted to touch sensitivity settings, as well as many hidden features that are expected to come with Android 15. If you own a compatible Pixel smartphone, then you can join the Android Beta Program. Once upgraded to the new beta, you can use the Android Beta Feedback app to submit problems or issues available on the beta.
