Pixel February 2024 Security Update Addresses Several Issues

Google has started rolling out the monthly security update for Pixel devices. This month’s security update – February 2024 Pixel update addresses several issues, already available for supported Pixel devices.

Google pushes the latest software upgrade to the eligible devices with UQ1A.240205.002 build number. If you own the Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro, then the update carries UQ1A.240205.004 version number. The update is also available for carrier-locked models with the firmware ending with A1 for Verizon users and B1 for SoftBank (JP) users.

Like previous updates, the update weighs only 28MB in size, you can quickly install it on your Pixel smartphone. Moving to the changes, then following last month’s trend, there are no big changes coming this month, instead today’s update addresses several known issues.

With the February 2024 security update, Google addresses the display issues for Pixel 8 series and Pixel Fold. The update fixes outer display issue for Pixel Fold and display corrupted issues encountered by some Pixel 8 series owners. Apart from that, the update brings improvements to the framework and general stability to camera and WiFi.

    • Fix for issue with outer display in certain conditions [Pixel Fold]

    • Fix for stability or performance with certain third party apps [Pixel 5a (5G), Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro]
  • WiFi
    • General improvements for Wi-Fi stability and performance in certain conditions [Pixel 8 and 8 Pro]

At the moment, the update is rolling in a staged manner, you will receive the update OTA notification once available on your device, you can tap on it and download the update or simply head over to Settings > System > Advanced > System update and install the new software.

You can also manually install the February 2024 update on your Pixel phone by sideloading the update. The factory images and OTA files of the September update are already available. But make sure to take a backup before sideloading the new software.
