Android 12 – What’s New

Although, the developer preview builds not always carry the user interface changes. But that’s not the case with the Android 12 developer preview build. Yes, the latest build knocks up with a slew of new features and changes. Starting from the UI changes, then Google has revamped the Settings app UI by splitting the search bar and Google Account avatar. Both the search bar and user avatar have gotten bigger in size in comparison to Android 11’s Setting app. There is also a hidden flag with Silky Home naming, which lets you enable One-Handed mode in the Settings app.

With Android 12, Google brings a new light blue accent color for system apps, including the Settings app, notifications, and more. Pixel Launcher on the Android 12 receives a new option that lets users enable the 4×5 grid option. Google has also revamped the screenshot markup menu, users can now add emoji and text to the screenshots. Other than that, the next-gen Android OS is set to get a dedicated scrolling screenshot feature as well.

Aside from these changes, the newer OS brings AVIF image support to Android, H.265/HEVC video format, enhanced privacy and safety, haptic-coupled audio effects, UI optimizations for tablets, foldable phones, and TVs, updates for the notification panel, and much more.
