Android Auto 11.1 beta is the year’s first update, here’s how to get it

Google showcased a bunch of new features coming to Cars with Google built-in at CES 24. Apart from the CES announcements, Google kick-starts its Android Auto update campaign for 2024 with a v11.1 beta update.

The new beta update is currently available to developers for testing purposes. The next major Android Auto update reaches the initial phase of production. If you are Android Auto beta testers, then you can test and try out the next stable release.

If you are already into the Android Auto beta program, then you will receive the 11.1.140143 update over the air. You can also sideload the APK manually on your smartphone to try out the new features. Although the feature details are not available yet, Google didn’t mention anything new in the release notes.

Android Auto is getting better with each incremental upgrade, recently, Android Auto received a feature that uses the same app icons that appear on your smartphone. Not only this, but it also downloads the same wallpaper you configured on your smartphone. These two features will make your smartphone’s screen and Android Auto screen similar.

Apart from the visual changes, the update brings a Disconnect button for wireless devices, you can use it to quickly disconnect any wireless Bluetooth accessory.

If you want to update Android Auto to v11.1 beta, then you can follow the below steps to know how you can enroll in the Android Auto beta program.

  1. Launch the Google Play Store on your Android.
  2. Now, search for the Android Auto app on the Play Store.
  3. Once you see the app from the results, select it.
  4. With the Android Auto app page open, scroll toward the bottom.
  5. You should see an option that says Join the Beta.
  6. If the beta program is not full, you will be able to easily join the program, or else you will have to wait.
  7. Once you have joined the program successfully, you will see the new update to Android Auto show up on your Android device. Simply update the app and make use of the new Coolwalk UI for your carโ€™s navigation unit.
