Xperia 10 III and Xperia Pro-I are getting Android 12 Update

The Xperia 10 III and Xperia Pro-I are the two latest Sony phones to get the Android 12 update. The update actually started about a week ago but is now available to more users. Android 12 is already available to some other Xperia phones such as Xperia 5 II, Xperia Pro, Xperia 1 II, and more.

The stable Android 12 for Xperia 10 III is rolling out to Europe. And it comes with build number 62.1.A.0.533. The Android 12 update also brings the February 2022 Android Security Patch. Xperia 10 III was released last year with Android 11 out of the box and so this is the first major update for the device.

Talking about the Android 12 update for Xperia Pro-I, it is available in Japan. Xperia Pro-I is the flagship phone from Sony that was launched last year in December with Android 11. The Android 12 update comes with build number 61.1.F.2.2 and it also brings March 2022 Android Security Patch.

As we all know Android 12 is a major update for both the Xperia phones, it weighs more than general incremental updates. So in that case make sure to use WiFi for updating your Xperia phone to Android 12.

Talking about new features, the update brings major Android 12 changes such as new Material You design, revamped Quick Settings panel, improved privacy, camera, and more. As of now, we don’t have the complete changelog but we will share it with you once available to us.

If you are an Xperia 10 III or Xperia Pro-I user in Europe & Japan respectively, then you should be getting the update in a few days if you haven’t received it already. It is a staged rollout which means it can take some time to arrive on all eligible phones. You can also manually check for the update from Settings > Software Update.

There is also the option to manually update your phone by grabbing the firmware using the XperiFerm tool. Flashing firmware requires a flashing tool. We recommend following this method only if you are aware of the process as it can also brick your phone.

Before updating your Xperia 10 III and Xperia Pro-I to Android 12, make sure to backup all the data and charge it to at least 50%.
