Last month, the Sony Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III received the stable Android 12 update. And almost a month later, the Xperia 1 II is also reportedly getting the Android 12 update. There are a bunch of Sony phones eligible for the Android 12 update. And Sony Xperia 1 II is now the latest device to receive the stable Android 12 update. As per the comments of Xperia 1 II users on various social media platforms, it is not a widespread rollout for now.
One user in the androidupdatetracker comment section confirmed that he has received the update on his Xperia 1 II. As per the comment, the Xperia 1 II Android 12 update carries build number 58.2.A.0.877 and it is available in Romania. However other users are still waiting for the update. We can expect its availability in more regions in the coming days.
As of now, we don’t have the complete changelog of the Android 12 update. But you can expect basic features of Android 12 which are also present in the update for Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III. New features include a new privacy dashboard, security permission indicator, and many more.
As usual, the update is available in batches, and that’s why many users have not received the update. But since it has started rolling out, it will be available to the majority of users in a few days as OTA. Keep checking for the update manually from System Update in Settings.
You can also download the latest firmware to manually flash the file for the latest update. But for now, the firmware for the latest update is not available. But it will be available soon. And once the Xperia 1 II Android 12 firmware is available, you can use XperiFirm tool to download it.
Before updating your phone to Android 12, make sure to backup all the data and charge it to at least 50%.
