[Update: Available in India] Xiaomi finally rolls out MIUI 12 Update to Redmi Note 7 [Global Stable]

Last month, Xiaomi released MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Now the update arrives on the vanilla Redmi Note 7 with the October 2020 monthly security patch and a bunch of new features. Here’s everything you need to know about Redmi Note 7 MIUI 12 Global Stable Update.

Xiaomi has started rolling out MIUI 12 stable update to the Redmi Note 7 (non-pro) with V12.0.1.0.QFGMIXM software version. Although, as of now, Xiaomi has not confirmed the rollout of MIUI 12 for Redmi Note 7. But a slew of users on social media, reportedly receiving MIUI 12 update on their Redmi Note 7 smartphone.

Talking about the features, then the Redmi Note 7 MIUI 12 Global Stable update comes with the intuitive UI, new animations, intuitive UI, customizations, and also with the MIUI 12 Wallpapers. This update is based on Android 10 and has October 2020 monthly security patch.   • New: Swipe down from the upper left corner to open Notification shade and from the upper right corner to open Control center

  • Optimization: Brightness and color improvements for wallpapers in Dark mode

  • Fix: Home screen went black and started flashing after unlocking in some cases

  • New Pro mode features and description

Like every other Xiaomi update, this is also an airborne update, which might take some time to reach every device, but you can download the recovery ROM to and update your device manually to the newer update.

To sideload the recovery ROM package, you need to head over to the system settings, then updates, then select the update package manually. Allow the prompts to install the build.

Before upgrading your smartphone, I recommend you to take a backup, before diving into the process and charge your device to at least 30%.

Update 1: 19th November

Xiaomi has rolled out the stable MIUI 12 update for Redmi Note 7 & Note 7s in India. The update is rolling out with build number 12.0.1.0.QFGINXM and it weighs around 475MB. The MIUI 12 Global Update first released last week of October, but earlier it wasn’t available in India.

It brings all the new features and new UI to the device. MIUI 12 brings a Control center like the iPhone with similar GUI interaction. All the features including the Security patch are similar to the global stable update mentioned above.

Update Instructions:

To sideload the recovery ROM package (Update file), you need to head over to the system settings > updates, then select the update package manually. Then, allow the prompts to install the build.

Once the installation process is completed, reboot your Redmi Note 7 before start using it. That’s it.
