Sony finally enters the Android 12 arena. The OEM finally started rolling out the stable Android 12 update for its top phones. The stable Android 12 is now available for Sony Xperia 1 III and Sony Xperia 5 III phones. In July we shared a list of Android 12 eligible Sony phones which you can check here. As we mentioned there, the Android 12 is now available for both Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III.

Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III are two top phones from Sony. And so it’s no surprise that these two are the first two phones from Sony to receive the Android 12 update. There arenโ€™t many eligible Sony phones, so we believe they will have the bug-free and well-optimized Android 12 update.

The Android 12 for Sony Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III comes with build number 61.1.A.1.149. Since it is a big update for both phones, you can expect the update size to be larger than security updates. So make sure you use WiFi or have enough internet data for the upgrade.

Now coming to the part where we talk about features, the Android 12 update on Sony Xperia 1 III and Sony Xperia 5 III brings December 2021 Android Security Patch. As of now, we donโ€™t have the official changelog for the update. But we can expect many Android 12 features like new privacy dashboard, security permission indicator, and many more. You can check more info here.

Android 12 Stable Update for Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III is currently rolling out in Russia and soon it is expected to be available in other regions. As usual, it is a staged rollout, meaning users with Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III will get the update in batches. In case if you didnโ€™t get the OTA update notification, you can manually check for the software update in Settings.

You can also download the latest firmware to manually flash the file for the latest update. To download Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III Android 12 firmware, you can use XperiFirm tool.

Before updating your phone to Android 12, make sure to backup all the data and charge it to at least 50%.
