Sharp AQUOS Sense8 Joins Android 15 Developer Program: How to Install

Sharp has joined the Android 15 Developer Preview program along with many other OEMs. The Japanese Electronic company participates in early testing of new Android version almost every year. This year, the Sharp AQUOS sense8 is the device eligible for Android 15 Developer Preview.

Android 15 is the next Android iteration which is currently available in Public Beta for Pixel phones. Google officially announced Android 15 at the Google I/O event along with the release of the second public beta and its stable build is expected to go live in September or October.

Just like with other OEMs, this is the very first beta build of Android 15 for AQUOS sense8. This means the build could have bugs that can affect the experience. But if you are a developer or enthusiast, you can install the first beta on your Sharp Sense8 phone. Before that, you might want to know its known issues.

Known Issues for Sense8:

  • Cannot register facial recognition.
  • AQUOS Tricks → Rich color technology Mobile doesn’t work.
  • AQUOS Tricks → High-speed display doesn’t work.
  • AQUOS Tricks → Fingerprint sensor and Pay Trigger doesn’t work.
  • AQUOS Tricks → Clip Now doesn’t work.
  • AQUOS Tricks → Gaming menu doesn’t work.
  • AQUOS Tricks → Quick operation doesn’t work.
  • AQUOS Tricks → AQUOS Home doesn’t work.
  • Cannot check Battery Health in AQUOS Tricks → Intelligent Charging.
  • Cannot hear the sound through the connected bluetooth earphone.
  • Cannot receive SMS.
  • Cannot transfer eSIM from another device. (Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Transfer a SIM from another device)

Requirements:

  • Take a backup of your phone
  • Your phone must be running 02.00.00 or newer
  • Developer Preview App (Link)

Steps to Install Android 15 Beta on Sharp Phone

  1. Install the Developer Preview app on your device and open it.
  2. Now select Terms and Conditions, then tap on the Register button.
  3. The Register button will turn grey. Then tap on three dots followed by Load.
  4. It will give you a popup, choose the Android 15 Beta 1.
  5. The build will start installing on your phone, wait for it to finish.
  6. Once done, tap the Restart button to restart your phone.
  7. After restart you can experience Android 15.

Later if you decide to downgrade your device, pull down the notification panel and tap the Restart option below Dynamic System Updates notification. After restarting, access the Dynamic System Updates notification, and tap the Discard button. Open the app you installed, then tap the Not Register button. That’s it!
