Samsung is actively working on One UI 5 updates for eligible devices. Earlier this week Samsung released the stable One UI 5 for the Galaxy S22 and since then Samsung has only increased the speed of updates. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 are now receiving the One UI 5 Beta 2 update.
The One UI 5 beta 2 update comes with software version ZVJF on both Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4. On Galaxy Z fold 4 the update weighs around 717MB and on Galaxy Z Flip 4, it weighs around 600MB. The update brings November 1, 2022 Android security patch to both Galaxy devices. It looks like the update is rolling out in different regions including South Korea and the US.
As per the rollout plan recently shared on Samsung’s community post, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 are planned to get Android 13 based stable One UI 5 by the end of November. Since both are the latest foldable, there is no doubt that both will get the update much sooner than other devices.
The first beta builds for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 were released about a week ago. And the second beta is now being rolled out for beta testers. Both phones get updates almost at the same time, the difference is only hours or a few days.
Yes, the beta testing for Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 started a bit late, but Samsung doesnโt need many builds before it releases a stable build. As per my guess, we could see one more beta build next week before the release of the stable One UI 5 update.
Talking about changes in the second One UI 5 beta, the update fixes a bunch of bugs. The update page doesnโt show any new features as the first beta already brought most features of Android 13 based One UI 5. The changelog is almost the same for both phones. You can check the changelog below.
Bugs that have been fixed
- Secure WiFi app error after reboot
- Home icon and Navigation bar disappearing
- Routine is not running
- When changing screen layout and zoom, task bar recently used app display error
- When unfolding in landscape mode, a black area of the background screen occurs
- OMNI is changed when setting Pro video > MIC (360 or BTMIX)
- Landscape mode > Video > Auto framing on > Tracking on does not work
- App icon appears late when unfolding
- Other minor bug fixes
If you have joined the One UI 5 beta program on your Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 then you will soon receive the second beta if you havenโt already. To manually check for the update go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
As this is a beta build for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, you may face some bugs, we don’t recommend you install the beta build on your primary smartphone. If you want to install the update make sure to take a backup of your phone and charge it to 50% at least.
