Samsung’s One UI 9.0 early hands-on reveals upcoming changes

Summarize This Article:

Amid the wait for the official One UI 8.5 release, Samsung has already begun internal testing of One UI 9.0 on the Galaxy S26 devices. One UI 9.0 will be based on Android 17 and is expected to debut on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8, before rolling out to other eligible devices.

Although One UI 9 won’t be officially released anytime soon, there will be opportunities to experience the update before its public release. The internal beta is one such option, though it’s highly limited. The Sammobile team managed to get their hands on an early One UI 9.0 build and has shared what’s changed in this early internal build.

Sammobile didn’t spot any major visual changes in the early One UI 9.0 build, which isn’t surprising since both One UI 8.0 and One UI 8.5 already introduced various UI changes. However, minor visual tweaks could still be present.

One notable change in One UI 9.0 is the wider Volume and Brightness slider in the quick panel, making it easier to use. Additionally, there’s a separate option for Parental Control in the Settings, moving up from the Digital Wellbeing section.

These are the only changes that have been discovered so far, but as the One UI 9.0 access expands, more changes and features will be revealed. This is just the beginning of the One UI 9.0 testing phase, and we can expect several new features and improvements in the upcoming beta builds.

Currently, most users are eagerly anticipating the release of One UI 8.5, which is expected to be a major update with a bunch of new features and changes. The stable One UI 8.5 could release any day for the Galaxy S25 series, which will later expand to other eligible Galaxy devices. However, it’s good to know Samsung has begun the One UI 9.0 development.
