Samsung officially announces Android 12L and One UI Watch 4.5 for older devices [Updated]

Last month, Samsung released its newest generation of foldable and smartwatches. Yes, I am talking about the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Watch 5 series. The new foldable comes with Android 12L based One UI 4.1.1 software upgrade, whereas the Galaxy Watch 5 series run on the One UI Watch 4.5 based on wearOS 3.5. And now the company has officially confirmed that new software is coming to older models.

Starting today, One UI 4.1.1 will begin rolling out to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. Beyond the last year’s foldables, the update will also be released for the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Original Galaxy Z Fold, and Galaxy Z Flip (5G).

Samsung has been testing the One UI Watch 4.5 update on the last year’s Galaxy Watch 4 for a couple of months. Last week, the stable build goes live to the users who opted beta program. And now is the time for public release, if you’re using the Galaxy Watch 4 or 4 Classic, then you’ll receive the new One UI Watch 4.5 based wearOS 3.5 update this week.

Both software is bundled with a flurry of new features, talking about the One UI 4.1.1, then the upgrade is rolling with new multitasking features with multi-window, split-screen, and pop-view options, a new taskbar with faster app switching support and other features, support to open multi-window from anywhere using drag and drop gestures.

The update also brings dual-preview support to the camera app for the Galaxy Z Fold and improvements to the Quick Take feature n the flip phone, apart from these features, the update comes with a bunch of other improvements.

Moving to the features for the Galaxy Watch 4, then the new software comes up with new customization options, six new watch faces which are available on the new Galaxy Watch 5, a new QWERTY keyboard, and more.

The new software will also push some of the Galaxy Watch 5 features to the Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Watch Active2. Samsung also confirms that BP and ECG features will be expanded to the Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Watch Active 2 in 24 markets.


September 6 – Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Fold 3 received One UI 4.1.1 update

The last year’s foldable and clamshell have received the new Android 12L based One UI 4.1.1 update. Currently, the update is available in South Korea, it will be released in other countries soon. It is rolling with the F711NKSU2DVH9 version number to the Galaxy Z Flip 3, whereas the Fold 3 picks up the new software with the F926NKSU1DVH9 firmware version.

So, whether you own a Galaxy Z Fold, Z Flip, or a Galaxy Watch, your smart gadget will receive a new feature-rich software upgrade soon, once the new software is available you’ll receive the OTA notification on your device.
