Samsung Galaxy A17 5G and M36 5G now getting One UI 8 stable update

Summarize This Article:

Samsung has been painstakingly working on extending the availability of its latest Android 16 skin, aka One UI 8. The company has already released the new update for a bunch of S-series, Z-series, and A-series phones. Now the company has started rolling out the stable One UI 8 update for the affordable Galaxy A17 5G and Galaxy M36 5G.

The Android 16 upgrade is rolling out with the M366KKSU2BYI4 build number for the Galaxy M36, whereas the Galaxy A17 5G is receiving the new update with the A176BXXU2BYID firmware version. Currently, the update is in its initial rollout phase, available in Vietnam for the A17 5G and South Korea for the M36 5G.

As it is a major upgrade, it requires a huge chunk of data for installation. Please ensure you have enough data before downloading the new build. The update will bump up the monthly security patch version to September 2025.

One UI 8-based Android 16 update comes with a slew of new features and changes. The list of features includes the new Adaptive lock screen clock, improved split-screen view, better display support in Samsung DeX, easier file sharing with Quick Share, Dynamic Lock screen, hide apps in secure folder, updated stock apps, improved animations, and more.

Whether you own the Galaxy A17 5G or the Galaxy M36 5G, you can upgrade your device to One UI 8 stable update. To check for the update, go to Settings > Software Update. Once the update is available on your phone, you can download and install it.

Please charge your phone to at least 50% before updating to the One UI 8-based Android 16 update. Also, don’t forget to back up your data just in case.
