Oppo, after rolling out the ColorOS 15 update for the Reno 10 Pro, A60, and A78 earlier this month, is now rolling out the Android 15-based update for the affordable Oppo A59 5G. Oppo has officially announced the update for users in India. With this major update, the Oppo A59 5G gets a bunch of new features that make the device even better.
Oppo has already released the update for many of its eligible devices, and with each release, they are getting closer to completing the rollout for all models.
The Oppo A59 5G was released in late 2023 with Android 13 based ColorOS 13 out of the box. This means the Android 15-based ColorOS 15 is the second major update for the Oppo A59.
This is a major update, meaning you can expect a lot of new features. However, since it’s an entry-level phone, it might not receive all the features like flagship phones. You can expect features such as new animations, app icons, themes, lock screen customization, limited AI features, and more. You can navigate to our dedicated article on ColorOS 15.
The update is being rolled out in phases, and it’s also available in the release candidate if you want to get it right away. To manually apply for early access, you can follow these steps, as advised by Oppo.
Go to Settings > About device > Tap the top of the page > Tap icon on the top right > Trial versions > Official version > Apply Now.
After some wait, check the Settings for the update. Once the major ColorOS 15 update is available, you can download and install it immediately. Before proceeding, make sure to back up your device, and also charge it to 50%.
