At the recent Made by Google event, Google unveiled a range of new products including the latest Pixel Watch 3. If you watched the event, you may already know that Pixel Watch 3 now has the ability to live stream your Nest camera and doorbell. The feature was highlighted in the event’s keynote.

Currently, the Nest cam streaming is only available on Pixel Watch 3. However, the feature will expand to mode smartwatches including non-Pixel watches. Yes, Google has confirmed that the Live Video and Quick Actions will be rolled out to other Wear OS devices as well. Here’s what Google mentioned in the help center page:

Live video and quick actions are only available on Google Pixel Watch 3. These features will be rolled out soon to other Pixel Watch series and Wear OS devices.

As of now, Google hasn’t shared a specific date for when this feature will be widely available on other smartwatches. But once it is available, you’ll be able to control your Nest cam from your watch and perform actions like live view, two-way conversation, quick responses, receive notifications, and more.

If you donโ€™t know how this feature works, you’ll need the latest Google Home app on your watch, along with a Nest camera or doorbell installed. You may have already completed the setup of your Nest camera or doorbell during the installation, so accessing it from a Wear OS should be straightforward.

You will receive a notification alert on your Smartwatch when the camera and doorbell detect any motion. You can either access the camera feed from the notification or manually from the Google Home app on your watch.

Open the latest Home app, and tap on Camera. You will get to choose the view you prefer on your smartwatch. With the live camera feed open, you can zoom in and out by double tapping. To move the zoomed camera view, press and slide one finger to the left or right.

When live view is open, tap three bars and the Mic button to talk to the person in front of the camera. If you donโ€™t want to talk, you can also use the quick responses available by default. To do this, open live view, tap three bars, and then the quick response/message icon. You can tap options like โ€œYou can just leave itโ€ or โ€œWeโ€™ll be right there.โ€ And the person in the front of the camera will be notified of the same.

These features are available for the Pixel Watch 3, but soon Google will roll out the feature to other Pixel watches and other Wear OS smartwatches.
