March 2025 Security Update for Pixel Phones Fixes Numerous Bugs

Google has just released the first Pixel Drop of the year alongside the March 2025 security update for Pixel devices. As expected, the update squashes a big list of known issues and bugs reported by Pixel users.

Google is pushing the new software upgrade to the eligible Pixel phones and tablets with BP1A.250305.019 build number. The gradual upgrade weighs around 660MB. It is bigger in size, as it offers new features compared to the monthly security patches.

Here’s the complete list of fixes coming with the March 2025 security update.

  • Apps
    • Fix for stability or performance with certain apps using WebView*[2]
  • Audio
    • Fix for issues with adjusting call volume on calls over BT headsets*[3]
  • Camera
    • General improvements for camera stability in certain conditions*[2]
  • Display & Graphics
    • Fix for display stability and performance in certain conditions*[1]
  • System
    • General improvements for system stability and performance in certain conditions*[2]
  • Telephony
    • General improvements for network connection stability and performance in certain conditions*[2]
  • User Interface
    • Fix for issue occasionally causing color theme in launcher preview to not match with the selected wallpaper in certain conditions[3]
    • Fix for issue with home screen icons to appear transparent after unlocking or switching apps in certain conditions[2]
    • Fix for issue with switching between apps when using third party launchers in certain conditions[2]
    • Fix for issue with themed icons in certain conditions[3]
    • General improvements for performance and stability in certain UI transitions and animations*[3]

If you own a Pixel 6 or newer Pixel device, you can update your device to the March 2025 security update. At the moment, the update is rolling in a staged manner, you will receive the update OTA notification, you can tap on it and download the update or simply head over to Settings > System > Advanced > System update and install the new software.

You can also manually install the March 2025 update on your Pixel phone by sideloading the update. The factory images and OTA files of the September update are already available. But make sure to take a backup before sideloading the new software.
