It’s that time of the year when all Android OEMs are busy with testing of the upcoming Android 16-based skin. The beta program is already live for the flagship phones of Asus, Oppo, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Nothing, Motorola, and Samsung.
Now, a Japanese mobile network operator, AU by KDDI, has confirmed a list of smartphones from various companies eligible for the Android 16 update. The carrier operator has listed the devices from these brands: Samsung, Sony, Google, Oppo, Sharp, Xiaomi, FCNT, and KYOCERA.
It’s important to note that this isn’t a comprehensive list of all eligible devices. Instead, it reflects the models sold through AU by KDDI in Japan, giving us an overview of phones confirmed to receive the upcoming software upgrade.
Sony typically does not provide a list of devices eligible for upcoming software updates. However, if you are looking for confirmation on whether your phone will receive an Android 16 update or not, here’s the list of eligible phones.

Moving to Samsung, the company is already testing its upcoming One UI 8 based Android 16 skin on Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6.
