iQOO 7 receives Android 12 update based on Funtouch OS 12 Global

Vivo’s subsidiary iQOO starts rolling out FuntouchOS 12 based Android 12 update for iQOO 7 smartphone in India. In September, the company announced the Android 12 developer preview program for the iQOO 7 Legend. But surprisingly they have released the global build for the vanilla iQOO 7.

At the moment, iQOO has not officially posted anything about the update. But there are select iQOO 7 users who have shared screenshots of Funtouch OS 12 based on Android 12 on Twitter. Tech YouTuber Harshit Bhatia shared a bunch of screenshots of iQOO 7 running on Android 12. Here are the screenshots.

As per the official roadmap, the device is slated to get the update from the end of Dec 21. Anyways, the first major OS upgrade for iQOO 7 is here and it weighs a whopping 4.12GB in size for downloading. You can connect your device to a stable WiFi network for faster downloading. The latest patch is seeding with the PD2055CF_EX_A_6.70.30 version number.

In terms of changes and features, then the update is seeding with the new widgets, nano music player, stickers, small windows, visual design with rounder corners across the system. Apart from these changes, the update brings a better system for security and privacy controls. According to the changelog, it seems like it is a stable update, but the company’s official roadmap claims a beta build in December month.

If you’re using the iQOO 7 then you can now upgrade your device to the Android 12 OS based on Funtouch OS 12 global. At the time of writing, the OTA hits select iQOO 7 units, we can expect it will be available to everyone within a few days or weeks. In case you’re in a haste, then you can go to the Settings > System updates and then check the new updates. If the update is available on your unit, then you can download it, if not, then you can wait for a few days.

Before upgrading your device, make sure to take a backup of important data and also charge your device to at least 50%.
