As we’re going close to the Android 12 release, the smartphone OEM makers start teasing the next version of their custom skin. In India, Vivo puts a banner of its Android 12-based FuntouchOS 12 skin on its official website with a few details about it.

FuntouchOS 12 Features (Confirmed)

Vivo has recently updated its FuntouchOS skin page on its official website in India and added a few details of the upcoming skin. As per the teaser, FuntouchOS 12 is going to bring a major overhaul to the Vivo phones. Now let’s move to the list of features teased by Vivo.

Widgets

Last year, Vivo replaced the FuntouchOS with OriginOS in its mainland China. And the OriginOS looks much better visually in comparison to the FuntouchOS, all thanks to the widgets. Now the company acquires the OriginOS widgets for FuntouchOS 12. Yes, the same set of widgets are coming to the Vivo phones.

The company bait weather, music, dynamic clock widget, along with many other widgets on its official website. Vivo phones will also get a nano music player for home screen with controls.

Extended RAM

The RAM extended tech, helps you increase your smartphone’s RAM with the help of the ROM. Yes, the feature allows you to allocate up to 4GB of ROM storage for RAM. This feature enhances the app-switching experience on your smartphone, the new feature is coming to Vivo phones with Android-12 based FuntouchOS 12 custom skin.

Improved Privacy and Security

Android 12 comes with a big list of privacy controls. Now users can see the camera or microphone icon on the top right corner of the screen when an app is using it. And the best thing is users can easily change the permission of the app by tapping on the camera or microphone indicator. Google also adds a Privacy Dashboard. This feature will show you details of if any app is using any sensor like Camera, Microphone, Location, or any other sensor along with the timeline.

Apart from these changes, you can also access features such as scrolling screenshots, notification improvements, On-device app search, easier Wi-Fi sharing, One-handed mode, new emojis, improved auto-rotate, AVIF image support, and more. Yes, you can use the essential features of Android 12 OS on Vivo phones after upgrading to FuntouchOS 12.

FuntouchOS 12 Eligible Devices aka Supported Phones

A big list of Vivo phones are going to get FuntouchOS 12 based Android 12 update. For the time being, Vivo has not disclosed details of the eligible devices. Usually, Vivo provides two major upgrades for their phones, with keep that in mind we curate the below list for you.

Vivo’s newest X70 series and the iQOO Z5 launched globally with FuntouchOS 12, although, it is based on the Android 11, not the Android 12. Both phones will get the Android 12-based FuntouchOS 12 update in the future.

Nov 20 – Vivo officially released FuntouchOS 12 roadmap

On November 20th, Vivo pushed the Android 12-based on FuntouchOS 12 to the Vivo X70 Pro+ in India. The update is seeding with the PD2145F_EX_36.8.12 software version on the X70 Pro+.

Oct 21 – Vivo officially released FuntouchOS 12 roadmap

Today, Vivo India tweets the rollout timeline of its newest skin – FuntouchOS 12 (based on Android 12). The timeline features a list of Vivo phones which are eligible for the upcoming FuntouchOS skin.

Oct 23 – iQOO released Android 12 roadmap

Vivo’s subsidiary iQOO now shares the Android 12 roadmap. And the list includes all iQOO models available in India. Yes, the last year’s iQOO 3 and the its successor iQOO 7 will get the Android 12 update. Talking about the affordable, Z-series, then both the iQOO Z3 and Z5 are going to get Android 12 update. Here’s the timeline shared by the company.
