iOS 17.0.1 comes with important security update

Just days after the official iOS 17 release, Apple released a small incremental iOS 17 update for eligible iPhones. This is a small but important update for users who are on the recent iOS 17 update. We have seen in the past that Apple releases fix updates soon after the official release if there are critical issues with the latest update.

The first iOS 17 update arrived sooner than expected. iOS 17.0.1 is available for all eligible iPhones including the iPhone 15 lineup, iPhone 14 lineup, iPhone 13 lineup, iPhone 12 lineup, iPhone 11 lineup, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone Xs, iPhone XR, iPhone SE 2nd and later.

Update: It seems for iPhone 15 models, the update available is iOS 17.0.2 (21A350).

Today Apple also released the iPadOS 17.0.1, iOS 16.7, iPadOS 16.7, watchOS 10.0.1, macOS 14 Sonoma RC2, macOS 13.6 Ventura, and macOS 12.7 Monterey. The iOS 17.0.1 update is available with build number 21A340 which is also the same for iPadOS 17.0.1. The iOS 16.7 update is available for iPhone 14 models.

iOS 17.0.1 Update

This is a small update and only focused on critical bug fixes along with security and kernel improvements. In case I find any changes, I will update them below.

“This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users.”

The update is available to all eligible iPhones. You can check for the update by going to Settings > General > Software Update. If you were in beta and turned off the beta recently, then you will also receive the new iOS 17.0.1 update on your iPhone. This was a quick update from Apple as the official iOS 17 was released only three days back.
