Meta has been diligently working on improving WhatsApp, evident in this particular new feature that allows users to use multiple accounts on WhatsApp. Last month, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg officially confirmed that WhatsApp will soon support two accounts on Android, and now, it’s finally happening.

For the time being, the multiple accounts feature is limited to Android users only, but it is expected to be made available for iPhone users in the future.

First things first, make sure you own a multi-SIM or eSIM-compatible smartphone and the newest version of WhatsApp installed on your smartphone. If your WhatsApp isn’t up to date, you can check if there’s any update pending in the Play Store. Once you are on the latest version, you can follow these steps to add a second account.

  1. Open WhatsApp on your Android smartphone, tap the three dots menu icon at the top right corner.
  2. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
  3. You will see your account information at the top along with a QR code button and a drop-down icon, tap the drop-down icon.

  5. On the next page, tap the Agree and Continue option. Then, type in the phone number which you want to use for the second account.
  6. You need to verify it either through call or SMS.
  7. Once done, enter the profile information which includes the display picture and profile name, then tap Next.

With the second account setup completed, you should also know how you can switch between two accounts on WhatsApp. Open WhatsApp on your device, then tap three-dots menu icon at the top right corner and select Switch Accounts option. Choose the account that you want to use, you will instantly get access to your secondary account.
