It’s been over two months now since the release of the official Android 12. The new Android version is in the news for its UI changes since its announcement. Android 12 is packed with tons of new features and one of the biggest UI changes in Android history. If you like the new Android 12 UI, then this guide is for you. Here you will learn how to get Android 12 features on any Android phone.
Android 12’s Material You design language makes everything fun. From Quick Settings to Volume Controls, the UI is all new and it changes according to the wallpapers set on the home screen, thanks to Material You. But not all users get to experience it as only select devices will get the Android 12 update. And even some devices that will get Android 12 will not have Material You because of custom UI.
In case your device is not eligible for Android 12, you can still enjoy some of the Android 12 features. And if your device is running on a custom UI like MIUI, Realme UI that are based on Android 12, you may not be able to get a UI like a Pixel phone. So also, in that case, you can follow this guide.
I will split the guide into multiple sections each for a specific Android 12 feature. It is not possible to get all the features of Android 12 in one method without rooting. Yes, this method will work even if your phone is not rooted. If you want to get all the Android 12 features then the only option is to try an Android 12 custom ROM. But it is only possible if a custom ROM is available and the bootloader is unlocked.
Let’s start the guide with the launcher.
Launcher
If talking about stock Android 12 which is available on Pixel phones, the home screen also got a redesigned match with Material You design. Launcher is the first impression of a phone. And so without changing the launcher, the Android 12 design will feel incomplete. Luckily there are some ways to get Android 12 like launchers using third party launchers. Lawnchair is the well-known launcher for the stock Android feel.
Lawnchair 12.0 Alpha 4 has the adaptive icons feature that will change icons color matching to the wallpaper set in the homescreen. By default the effect will not apply, you will need to do some changes in launcher settings. Luckily it is easy, you can find the settings you need to enable for the Android 12 launcher effect. There is one restriction that the effect will not apply to all icons. We can hope that in the next few builds it will be available for all icons.
First Download and Install the launcher on your Phone. It is available for Android 8.0 or above. Apply the launcher on your phone and long tap on the homescreen. Tap on Home Settings > General > turn on Themed icons. You can also change Accent Color which will be available in the Colors section in General settings. If you have search bar enabled for homescreen, long tap on homescreen, go to Home Settings > Dock > Apply Accent Color.
Wallpapers
Like other iterations of Android, the Android 12 also comes with some new exclusive wallpapers. This may not be a mandatory one for those who want to apply their favorite wallpapers. But if you want the complete Android 12 experience, the Android 12 wallpaper is recommended.
Now you must be thinking, where to get Android 12 wallpapers. Well if you are following YTECHB for some time, you may have already got the wallpaper collection. Yes, you can get the wallpaper on our site. Android 12 wallpapers are also available on our official Phonewalls app.
Android 12 Widgets
Android 12 comes with major changes in UI and Widgets are also responsible for making the UI attractive. Improved widgets on Android 12 make everything easier. And if you have seen Android 12 widgets on its feature page or in any review, I am sure you must be also willing to get those widgets on your phone’s homescreen too. So now let’s get to the part where we will tell you how to get these widgets.
First, download the Android 12 Widgets (Twelve) from the Playstore. The app is getting more widgets and features with updates. After installing the app go to Home Screen and long tap on an empty area. Now select Widgets > Android 12 Widgets and choose a widget of your choice. Hold the widget and drop it to the homescreen. Set the accent color or leave it as it is and click on the Add Widget button. Resize it according to the free space.
Android 12 Volume Panel
In Android 12, the Volume Control Panel also received a redesign and it looks better. Android 11 has a small and thin line slider that we can slide up or down to increase or decrease volume respectively. Whereas in Android 12, the sliders are thicker and have a curve design around corners to match with other elements of Android 12.
To get the Android 12 like volume panel first install the Volume Styles app from Play Store. Luckily it is a free app. Now open the app and select Android 12 style volume controls. Then click on the Start button on the top right corner. Enable Accessibility Service for the Volume Styles app. And now you can use the Android 12 Volume controls.
Quick Settings
Android 12 Quick Settings is also different. The new interface includes quick settings in larger sizes to easily control any settings from the Quick Settings tile. And now it covers the full screen when pull down instead of half screen that was the case in Android 11.
Quick Settings is something that requires a lot of permission as there are many options available in tiles. Also as of now there are hardly any applications available for the Quick Settings. There is one app called Control Center Android 12 Style. The app ask for many permissions that are not even required. So make sure you are using it at your own risk.
After installing the Control Center Android 12 Style from Play Store, open it. Now turn the Enable Control Center toggle to On and give the required permissions. Similarly, turn on next two toggles. When you close the app, the Quick Settings will revert back to the default one, so in that case, you can also lock the app in the Recent Apps screen.
Privacy Dashboard
One of the main features of Android 12 is the privacy dashboard. It is like the Digital Wellbeing dashboard but different. The dashboard shows the permission used and the list of apps that have the access to that permission. You can check which app has used which service and at what time.
It is a convenient security feature to avoid privacy issues. Luckily you can also get it on any version of Android. To get the Android 12 Privacy Dashboard, download an app called Privacy Dashboard by Rushikesh. Now open the app and grant the required permissions. Once done, it will show you all the permission details.
Easter Egg
Like any other Android version, it also has a specific easter egg. Easter eggs used to be fun in the early days of Android and even till a couple of years back. But now the easter eggs are simple, but many prefer simple easter eggs. The Android 12 also has a simple easter egg that you can get using third party apps.
To get the Android 12 Easter Egg, install the Easter Egg (Android 12) app by Rushikesh. Open the app and enjoy the Easter Egg animation. You can’t access it from Settings or at system level unless you switch to a custom ROM.
