All 22 New Features in Google’s June 2023 Pixel Feature Drop

After a slight delay, Google announced the latest Pixel Feature Drop for Pixel devices. The Pixel Feature Drop update is released every quarter after some QPR beta builds. This release appears to be the third Pixel Feature Drop based on Android 13. If you own a Pixel device, here are all the features that are part of the June Pixel Feature Drop and coming to your Pixel device soon.

As usual, the latest Pixel Feature Drop is filled with a bunch of new features for Pixel phones, Pixel Watches, and Fitbit devices. These are not just any features, but useful features that will improve the Pixel user experience.

New Features for Pixel Phones

Schedule safety checks

For extra peace of mind, you can ask Google Assistant on your Pixel phone to start emergency sharing or schedule safety check for specific durations. For example, if you schedule safety check for 30 minutes, and if you donโ€™t respond in the limited time, your real time location will be shared with emergency contacts.

Emergency Contacts in Car Crash Detection

Car Crash Detection has been available for a couple of years, which calls emergency services after detecting a car crash. With the latest feature drop update, it will now also share the real-time location with emergency contacts.

Macro Focus for Video

On the Pixel 7 Pro, Macro Focus is now available for video as well. This feature allows users to capture even smaller details in their videos.

Self-timed Photos

Users with a Pixel 6 or newer Pixel device can now simply raise their palms to trigger a timer for self-timed photos. The timer can be set for either 3 seconds or 10 seconds, depending on your preference.

The new feature called ‘Cinematic Wallpapers’ on Pixel 6 and newer Pixel phones transforms 2D photos into 3D dynamic themes that give a cinematic look. You can use photos of your family and friends to create a cool cinematic wallpaper experience.

Users can mix and match from over 4,000 emojis to create unique and cool live wallpapers that reflect their personalities and mood. If you’re feeling lazy, the ‘Randomize’ option is all you need.

Export Transcripts

The new update to the Google Recorder app lets users export transcripts into Google Docs, generate speaker-labeled video clips, and search for speakers within recordings. This will be available starting next week on Pixel 6 and newer Pixel phones.

Quick access to smart home controls

Smarter haptics

Pixel 6a and Pixel 7a can now lower their vibration intensity when the device is on a hard surface like a table or desk. It automatically lowers the vibration intensity using Pixelโ€™s adaptive haptics.

Improved Adaptive Charging

Adaptive charging on Pixel is even better now. It utilizes AI to predict prolonged charging sessions based on your previous charging patterns and slows down the charging speed one hour before it is supposed to reach 100% or to be unplugged.

New Google Assistant voices

The update introduces two new voices for Google Assistant in US English, expanding the voice options available.

SpO2 Tracking

The new feature drop includes SpO2/Oxygen Saturation tracking for the Google Pixel Watch, allowing it to monitor changes in your blood oxygen levels even while you sleep. This valuable health feature adds to the capabilities of the smartwatch.

Heart Rate Tracking Update

As mentioned earlier, the latest Pixel Feature Drop update also offers new features to Fitbit devices. Here are the new features.

  • The Exercise Menu shows a full list of exercises, with the most recent workout modes on top (on Charge 5, Luxe, and Inspire 3)
  • Easily check your Daily Readiness Score (For all Fitbit smartwatches and trackers)
  • New menstrual health tile
  • Notifications in more languages (For Sense 2 and Versa 4, Charge 5, Luxe, and Inspire 3)
  • Easily switch clock styles (Available on Sense 2 and Versa 4)
  • Four new Clock faces (Available on Charge 5, Luxe, and Inspire 3)
