Nothing’s sister brand CMF enters the smartphone market with high expectations. The company’s first smartphone, CMF Phone 1, is undoubtedly one of the unique phones in the market thanks to its replaceable back and other accessory assimilation.

But what about the hardware and most importantly the cameras? The phone is billing with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, an AMOLED display, an In-display fingerprint sensor, and a 5,000mAh battery. All for $199 in the US, £209 in the UK, and ₹15,999 in India.

Nothing is branding the phone’s main camera as a “flagship-grade camera.” The CMF Phone 1 dons a dual-lens camera setup, featuring a 50MP primary camera and a depth sensor (which is almost good for “nothing”). Notably absent is an ultra-wide-angle sensor, likely due to cost-cutting.

The main camera of CMF Nothing Phone 1 captures decent photos. And the best part is, you can make it even better by installing a Pixel aka Google Camera app (GCam mod port). Here you can download Google Camera for CMF Phone 1.

CMF Phone 1 boasts a 50MP Sony IMX882 camera sensor with 1/1.95″ size and 0.8-micron pixels. This sensor is also found on the Poco F6, Realme 12 Pro, and several other mid-range smartphones from 2024. The camera app on the CMF Phone 1 is similar to the one we’ve seen on recent OnePlus and Realme phones.

In daylight, the phone captures great photos in its price range, colors look natural and similar in many cases when compared to GCam port. The contrast and dynamic range are also impressive. In video recording, users are facing auto-focus issues.

If you want to enhance the camera quality on your CMF Phone 1, you can do it by installing a GCam port. It will improve your photos with richer colors, more accurate skin tones, better auto-focus in videos, and more.

The app support features like Night Sight mode, Astrophotography, SloMo, HDR Enhanced, RAW support, Google Lens, and more. Now let’s take a look at the steps on how to download and install the Google Camera app on CMF Phone 1.
