Apple has just released the second beta of iOS 26.1 to developers for testing purposes. The incremental upgrade comes out after two weeks of the first beta release. iOS 26.1 second beta brings a handful of changes, including useful changes to alarms, security improvements, custom workout support in the Fitness app, minor UI changes (text alignments) in the Settings app, Home screen folder, multitasking on iPad, and more. The watchOS 26.1, on the other hand, will bring enhancements to the Apple Watch.

  • Alarms and Timer: iOS 26.1 second beta brings an all-new way to stop alarms, you can now slide to stop alarms.
  • Security Improvements: The Privacy and Security section in the Settings app now gets a new toggle to automatically download and install security improvements.
  • Custom Fitness Workouts: You can now create custom workouts in the Fitness app.
  • Home screen Folders: With iOS 26.1 second beta, Home screen folder names will display on the left side instead of center-aligned text.
  • iPadOS 26.1 Multitasking Slide Over Improvements: Apple brings major improvements to the Slide Over multitasking feature. It now works alongside iOS 26’s multitasking functionality, meaning you have multiple windows. Additionally, you can swipe between Slide Over apps.
  • Liquid Glass refinements: The more subtle refractions around apps, when you use dark icons and background colors.

Apart from these changes, there are minor UI changes to the wallpaper setting page, the Display section in the Settings app, text alignments in Settings, Display Accessibility, and more.

If you have an eligible device and have opted for the iOS 26 Beta, the iOS 26.1 Beta 2 will be available under Settings > General > Software Update. If you haven’t selected the beta, but still want to test it, you can choose the beta option in the Software Update settings.

Currently, iOS 26.1 Beta 2 is available to developers, and it will soon be released for public beta testers. If you’ve received the update, don’t forget to backup your device before installing it.
