Android 13 comes to Motorola Edge 20 Fusion, two-year wait finally ends

Motorola Edge 20 Fusion users finally get a taste of Android 13, two years after its release. I am not kidding; this is the state of some Android phone companies. While Android 15 is just a few days from launch, Motorola is struggling to bring Android 13 and Android 14 updates to its devices.

Motorola first released Android 13 in beta for the Edge 20 Fusion in May this year. And after three months of beta testing, the stable Android 13 is finally rolling out for the Edge 20 Fusion.

An X user, AnshuTechblog has reportedly received the update in India. The update comes with build number T2RK33.146-14-1 and it weighs around 1.64GB. So make sure to use WiFi to download the update.

As far as new features go, you get most of the stock Android features that were added to other Android phones two years back. Here is the official changelog (from the screenshot shared on X/Twitter):

  • Customize your apps by color, theme, and language
  • Media player features album artwork and a dancing playback bar
  • Choose what app notifications you receive

These are only the main changes, so you will also get some more features along with the security update. As of now, we donโ€™t have information about the Android security patch. But it should be from the last few months, if not the latest.

One thing is clear from all this, donโ€™t get attracted by marketing gimmicks like the number of major Android OS updates. Because you donโ€™t know how long you will have to wait to get the update, even if it is promised.

Motorola recently introduced Hello UI, which is one of the coolest custom UIs. However, I fear the company is going to repeat the same mistake. Motorola should take this matter seriously, or it may hurt their reputation in the long run.
