As we all know that Google is going to release the next version of Android – Android 16 by the end of June, which is earlier than previous Android releases. The smartphone OEMs started kicking off the testing with developer preview builds.
Today, OnePlus has released the Android 16 beta 2 for the OnePlus 13, which is basically a developer preview. The beta is available in all regions but is limited to unlocked variants, it cannot be installed on carrier-locked models from T-Mobile or Verizon.
If you want to try out the Android 16 beta 2 on your OnePlus 13, please ensure that your phone is running on 15.0.0.703 or below; if you’re on a newer version, you’ll need to downgrade first.

OnePlus states that the update is designed for developers and does not recommend installing it on your primary device, especially if you’re unfamiliar with sideloading or flashing ROMs. Additionally, there are some bugs available in the initial developer preview build, here’s the complete list.
- Unable to close the version update pop-up after upgrading to the DPP version.
- Font weight settings cannot be adjusted.
- Device may restart when answering a call using Bluetooth headsets.
- Lag and display errors in the camera viewfinder and thumbnail in certain scenarios.
- Blurry or unclear camera viewfinder in some cases.
- Camera crashes when switching to Macro mode with the rear camera.
- Crashes and lag after enabling Ultra Steady mode.
- Display error in the camera viewfinder during video recording in specific scenarios.
- Screen may freeze when tapping the accessibility shortcut button on the home screen.
- Lag observed when locking the screen.
If you’re a developer and want to try out the Android 16 beta 2 on your OnePlus 13, ensure your phone is charged at least 30% and has at least 4GB of free space. Also, please take a backup of important data, as there’s a risk of bricking the device.
