Xiaomi starts recruiting Mi 11 users for Android 12 Global Stable testing

Android 12 is the latest Android update which is already in the last phase of testing. Yes earlier this month, Google released the final beta aka release candidate. It means maybe in the first or second week Google can release the Android 12 to the public. And other OEMs have also started testing the Android 12. Xiaomi is also recruiting Global Mi 11 series users for the Android 12 developer preview.

As you know the MIUI 13 has been delayed and is expected to arrive in December or next year. This Android 12 will be based on MIUI 12.5. And later the MIUI 13 will roll out to eligible phones. Now coming back to Android 12, it is one of the biggest UI updates in years. The Android 12 looks promising. And Xiaomi will be one of the first few OEMs to adopt it early.

Xiaomi also partnered with Google and released an Android 12 developer preview just after the Android 12 announcement at the I/O event. But that was only with Android 12 skin, not the MIUI. And later Xiaomi also released the Android 12 developer preview with MIUI but limited to China. Now they are starting to test the MIUI Global Stable ROM based on Android 12 for Mi 11, Mi 11i, and Mi 11 Ultra.

Xiaomi officials shared about the recruitment on their official Mi Community page. And it tells that soon after the release of Android 12, Xiaomi will also release stable Android 12 in a few weeks. Obviously, first Xiaomi’s premium flagship phone will get it. In this case Mi 11 series.

This testing is only for the Global ROM, so if you have a Mi 11 with Global ROM then you are eligible for this testing. But if you are using an IN or EU stable ROM then you will not be able to participate.

To check the ROM version on your phone:

  • Open Settings and go to the About Phone section.
  • Look for the MIUI version. There you will find firmware versions like RJUMIXM.

  • The last 3rd and 4th words are MI which refers to Global and if it is IN or EU it is an India or Europe version respectively.

If you want to participate in the Android 12 Global Stable program, you can apply here.

Once you apply for the Android 12 global stable, they will review the application and they will roll out the update to limited participants based on first come first serve. And as always, take a full backup of your phone before updating. You can check more information on the Mi Community.
