Yes, Nintendoโs brand-new Switch 2 is backward compatible with a lot of the older games that were released for the Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, and the Switch OLED models. Now, this is a good thing for a lot of Nintendo Switch players.
Why? Well, gamers who purchased the previous generation Switch will have a large library of digital and physical copies of games.ย Such backward compatibility makes sense, as there is no point in buying the same game title for a new generation device that has slightly better hardware upgrades.
But the main question now is, is there any catch? What are the limitations, and how many games are supported by the Nintendo Switch 2? Let’s find out.
Backward Compatibility with the Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo recently revealed that almost all first-party games from the 122 titles are compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2, leaving just a very small number of titles that might not work right away.
In terms of third-party games, out of 15000 games, the majority of them are said to work with the Nintendo Switch 2. However, Nintendo is currently testing all these titles, and we should soon see a complete list of partner games that work with the Switch 2.
Additionally, a very small percentage of games had issues when launching. Now, whether the developers of these games will address this problem, only time will tell.

Unplayable Games on the Switch 2
Nintendo has officially revealed that one of their first-party games is, Nintendo Labo Toy Con 04 VR Kit. The reason given by Nintendo is that the Switch 2 just does not fit into the Toy Con VR Goggles accessory, which means you cannot play the game anymore. If you want to enjoy the game, play it on the Switch or Switch OLED models.
