The latest iOS release, iOS 26, introduces a new liquid glass interface for iPhones. While some users like the major redesign, others find it less appealing. The Phone app also received a new look with liquid glass elements.
I like various UI changes in iOS 26, but there are some changes I wish they had reverted to their previous state. One of those changes is the redesign of the Phone app.
Many users are dissatisfied with the new UI in the Phone app. Since the Phone app is the primary application for which the device was designed, it holds significant importance, and its UI should be appealing to all users.
The new UI has fewer options on the main screen and now it requires multiple steps to access some important options like voicemail, missed call, and a few others. The favorites option doesn’t have dedicated window in the latest UI. In case, you also don’t like the new Phone app UI, you can revert to the old interface.
How to Revert the Phone App UI on iOS 26
Yes, it’s possible to get back the old Phone UI on iOS 26 in just a few clicks. While it’s a simple process, many users may not notice the revert option without a guide. So here’s a step-by-step guide to help you revert the Phone UI.
Step 1: On your iPhone, open the Phone app.

Step 2: Select three bars at the top right corner to bring up the view option.

Step 3: Choose the Classic view, and the UI will switch back to the old view.

That’s it!
The new UI features a search option at the bottom, along with three quick options for Calls, Contacts, and Keypad. Whereas the Old UI is well-organized with more quick options.

In the Phone app’s old UI, there’s a search bar and a separate tab for missed calls at the top. At the bottom, you’ll find multiple options, including Favorites, Recents, Contacts, Keypad, and Voicemail. With all these options available at their fingertips, anyone can easily navigate to any section of the app.

I like the old UI better. It seemed cleaner and much easier to use and understand. I am glad that you gave us the information on how to revert back to the original design.
Consider this: the new UI is opt-in. It DEFAULTS to Classic. If you changed it, though, this guide may be helpful to someone who might not know.
Thank you for the easy to follow instructions.
Is there a way to switch back to Liquid Glass after going to classic mode?
Any way to restore the Contacts app? Notes for Contacts, like store hours for a merchant, are illegible! What genius decided white text on a light gray background was great UI design?
