Many Fire Stick users often face the above issues with the Paramount Plus app. Fortunately, there are ways to fix them. But, before we jump into the troubleshooting methods, let’s understand the reasons behind it.

Why is Paramount Plus not working, crashing, or freezing on Fire Stick?

If you are facing different issues when trying to access Paramount Plus on Fire Stick, it’s hard to pinpoint the exact reason. However, the following are often referred to as the real culprits:

  • Server-side issue
  • Poor internet connection
  • Peak internet traffic hour
  • Outdated app or operating system
  • Corrupted app installation
  • Use of VPNs
  • Corrupted settings
  • Ad blockers

Now that you are aware of the reasons behind Paramount Plus not working on Fire Stick, let’s jump into the troubleshooting methods without wasting further time.

How to Fix Paramount Plus Not Working on Firestick

1. Check if Paramount Plus is down

If the Paramount Plus app is not working on Amazon Fire Stick, it’s always handy to check if the service is working flawlessly in your region or not. That’s because problems at Paramount Global’s server can cause such issues. Remember, you’re likely to see error code 3304 when the Paramount Plus app can’t connect to the server.

That’s not all, these messages can be vague sometimes. You might see different types of messages as soon as you open the Paramount Plus app. It might include messages saying “We are experiencing some technical difficulties. Please check again later,” “Something went wrong,” “Video unavailable,” and more.

So, it’s best to keep an eye on the system status by checking the official server status page or third-party websites like DownDetector. As seen in the image below, you’ll get detailed info about Paramount Plus downtime using DownDetector.

2. Update Fire Stick and Paramount Plus app (if available)

Streaming services like Amazon Fire TV regularly get updates which include patches for existing bugs or issues. The same is true for the Paramount Plus app as well. Therefore, it’s best to update them before we jump into the troubleshooting steps.

  1. First, press the home button on the Fire Stick remote, and navigate to Settings (with the Cog icon).
  2. Then, select My Fire TV.

Here’s how to update the Paramount Plus app:

  1. From the homescreen, highlight the Paramount+ app without opening it.
  2. On the remote, click the Menu button (with three horizontal lines).
  3. Click More Info
    • Note: If an update is available, you’ll see an Update button, then click Update.
  4. Finally, click Update App Now. You’ll see the downloading indicator.

Once completed, the app will be updated to the latest version. Now, try and launch the app and see if the issue persists. If yes, make sure to follow the troubleshooting methods given below.

3. Restart Your Fire TV Stick and Wi-Fi Router

Now, it’s time to do some of the obvious things. Without thinking twice, restart your Fire TV device and Wi-Fi router. Not only it will help you to clear out any glitches your Fire Stick may be facing, but also help with fixing your internet connection issues.

To restart your Fire TV device, hold the Select and Play/Pause buttons on your Firestick remote for five seconds. If Paramount Plus still not working on Fire Stick, try to unplug the Fire TV device, wait a minute, and then plug it back in.

Similarly, you can unplug the Wi-Fi Router from the main power source and wait for some time before plugging it back in. If the issues are related to internet connectivity or any sort of glitch, this method will certainly help you. Give it a try!

4. Disable Ad Blockers

If you are using an Ad Blocker and facing issues with Paramount Plus on Fire Stick, it’s time to disable it. While ad blockers can be a handy tool to skip ads, you must understand that the app may throw errors while playing content.

That’s simply because Paramount Plus serves ads to its customers based on their preferences and to promote their sponsors. If you block ads, you are likely to see a message on your screen similar to the one we have attached below.

5. Disable VPNs (or Enable for geo-locked content)

Those who don’t know about VPN altogether, please skip this step. If you don’t know about it, we are pretty sure you haven’t been using it. On the contrary, if you use a VPN, you should know that most streaming services including Paramount Plus try to detect and block VPNs that use shared IP addresses. So, if you have enabled it on your Amazon Fire TV, make sure to disable it by following the steps below:

  1. First, go to the Fire TV Stick’s home screen.
  2. Then, select Settings.
  3. Now, select Applications.
  4. Next, select Manage Installed Applications.
  5. Now, select the VPN app you want to disable.
  6. Finally, Disable/Turn Off the VPN.

If the Paramount Plus app works swiftly on Fire Stick afterward, then the VPN is the real culprit here.

On the other hand, if you could already use the Paramount Plus, but can’t access TV shows or movies available in other regions, VPN can be a useful tool for you. Therefore, it’s best to use a VPN to connect to the server of the specific region where the Paramount Plus content is viable. This way, you might be able to access geo-locked content too.

6. Force stop and clear the cache of the Paramount Plus app

If you are still facing issues with Paramount Plus on Fire Stick even after ensuring a stable internet connection, the app itself could be the real culprit here. In that case, we recommend force-stopping the Paramount Plus app and clearing its cache. You can do the same by following the steps given below:

  1. Press the home button on the Fire Stick remote.
  2. Navigate to the right and select the Settings menu.
  3. Then find Applications and press OK on your Fire Stick remote.
  4. Now, scroll through until you find the Manage Installed Applications, then select it.
  5. Next, scroll down to find the Paramount Plus app and select it.
  6. Now, select Force Stop.
  7. Now, select the Clear Cache option and press the OK button on the Fire Stick remote.

Lastly, try to launch the Paramount Plus app and check if it works normally as intended. If you are not facing any issues now, well, congrats!

7. Uninstall and reinstall the Paramount Plus app

If the above method didn’t help you, it’s time to uninstall and reinstall the Paramount Plus app to eliminate any bugs and issues. You can uninstall the Paramount Plus app from your Fire TV by following the steps given below:

  1. First, go to Fire TV’s home screen.
  2. Then, select Settings > Applications.
  3. Now, select Manage Installed Applications.
  4. Then, find and select the Paramount+ app.
  5. Next, select Uninstall.
  6. Finally, follow the on-screen instructions.

Now, to reinstall the Paramount Plus app on your Fire TV:

  1. Search for “Paramount+ or Paramount Plus.”
  2. In the search results, select “Paramount+ App.”
  3. Tap “Get” to download the app.
