Apple devices come with the Siri voice assistant with a female voice by default. And it doesn’t give you a choice to choose between many voices. But in the recent iOS 14.5 beta update, Apple added two new Siri voices. It means you can now choose from four different Siri voices depending on the accent or variety you choose. If you have updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 14.5 then this guide is for you. Here you will know how to change Siri voice on iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches.
Siri is the virtual assistant for Apple devices. It is good but not the best as it is missing many useful features which are available on Android phones (Google Assistant). But Apple is not done yet with Siri improvements. And in the latest beta, they added two new Siri voices. It means now there are four Siri voices to choose from. The Siri voice assistant now has two female and two male voices.
Before the iOS 14.5 update, iPhones and iPads come with the female Siri voice enabled by default. And you can choose a male voice later if you want to. So that’s makes only two voices for all these years. And now the addition of two different voices will be refreshing for Apple device users.
For now, the two new Siri Voices are available only in the American accent. And in other accents, you will find both old Siri voices. But Apple may soon add new voices on other accents too. We will update the guide once more Siri Voices are available.
Along with iPhones and iPads, two new Siri voices are also available on Apple Watches and Apple HomePods. It means you can also enjoy new Siri voices on other Apple devices too. You can check how the new Siri Voices sounds with the small clip below.
Steps to Change Siri’s Voice on iPhones
Changing Siri’s voice is easy. It will ask you to choose your default Siri voice when you set up your device after the update (If you are not logged into iCloud). But if it doesn’t, you can follow the given steps and get your favorite Siri voice on your iPhone.
- Update your iPhone to iOS 14.5 or newer version
- Open Settings on your iPhone
- Now go to Siri & Search
- Look for the Siri voice option and open it
- Choose the American accent/variant from the first section
- Now you can choose from Voice 1, Voice 2, Voice 3, Voice 4
- Voice 1 and Voice 4 are the old two Male and Female Voices
When you select Voice 1, Voice 2, and Voice 3 it will first download the voice pack. But you can go back and it will download in the background. And you will be able to use your selected Siri Voice on your iPhone.
Steps to Change Siri’s Voice on iPads
If you have an iPad, then also you can change the default Siri voice. The process is almost the same as the iPhone. But you need to update your iPad to the latest iPadOS 14.5 update.
Go to Settings > Siri & Search, and select American & Siri Voice. On iPad also you will get new Siri voices with an American accent.
Steps to Set New Siri’s Voice on Apple Watch
The latest watchOS beta also comes with new Siri Voices. And you can simply set the New Siri voice on your Apple Watch. The steps are almost similar, but in case you don’t know, you can follow these steps.
- First make sure to update your Apple Watch to watchOS 7.4
- After updating your Apple Watch, Open Settings
- Now use the digital crown and select the Siri option
- And then from the options, select Siri Voice
- In the Siri Voice section, you will get similar options as iPhone/iPad. So, choose the American accent and Siri Voice of your choice.
That’s it, now you can also use new Siri voices on your Apple Watch.
As the two new Siri voices are only available in an American accent, make sure to select the variety first. Apple may add these new voices on another accent too, we will share it once it is available. If you ask me, I prefer Voice 2 as Siri’s voice.
