How to remove Apple Watch Band
Before taking the band off of your Apple Watch, make sure that you set up your Apple Watch on a clean lint-free cloth, this will reduce the risk of scratching the display of your Apple Watch. Once you are ready, let’s proceed:
- Place your Apple Watch, face-down, and find the two pill-shaped release buttons on the back of your Apple Watch case.
- Push one of the release buttons and gently slide the corresponding band free from your Apple Watch.
- Repeat step 2 for the other side as well.
Note: If your band is a metal link bracelet, press the quick-release button on the bracelet to separate it before detaching it from the Apple Watch.
How to put-on Apple Watch Band
Now, assuming that you have chosen the new Apple Watch band that you want to attach to your Apple Watch. Let’s proceed to the installation part:
- Place your Apple Watch faced down onto a clean surface.
- Align the new band with your Apple Watch.
- Gently slide the new band into your Apple Watch, one groove at a time.
- You will hear a click when the strap is in place.
If you do not hear a click, you might have inserted the band upside-down. If that’s the case, remove the band, change its orientation and slide it in again.
Note: Some bands have small text on the inside, such as sizing or product details. This can help you identify the front of the band from the back of it.
If you still do not hear a clicking sound, give the band a slight, gentle, up and down wiggle. If you still do not hear a click, it may be possible that your band may be damaged and can no longer click in securely.
According to Apple, the watch bands designed for earlier generations of the Apple Watch can still be used on the Apple Watch Series 4 and later, as well as the Apple Watch SE.
Before learning how to change your Apple Watch band, check that the size of your new band will work with the device you are using. Bands designed for 38mm cases are compatible with 40mm cases. Bands for 42mm cases are compatible with 44mm cases.
