Clipboard… I don’t think you need a bride introduction on this. Clipboard is a very, very useful feature that allows you to store multiple copied things such as screenshots and texts in one place. You can then use this feature to paste the copied items anywhere required. Almost all the tech gadgets running on Android, Windows, and macOS have this feature.
However, one major problem with the Clipboard is that you have to manually select the required item from the bunch of copied items, and the format is also not always right. Here comes Microsoft’s newly introduced artificial intelligence (AI) powered clipboard in the clutch. The firm calls this “Advanced Paste” and it can be very helpful at times.
What is the Microsoft’s new AI-powered “Advanced Paste” Feature?
Microsoft recently announced its new AI-powered feature called “Advanced Paste” which can be used via the known PowerToys application. Some of these features such as headlining and rewriting use AI, while some basic ones do not. You can use this to summarize text, translate it, or can also use the tool to re-write the text in someone else’s voice. This can eliminate the need for you to go to ChatGPT or any other AI chatbot to get your text rewritten. Using it is also fairly easy, here’s how you can do so:
How to use AI-powered Advanced Paste Feature
Step: 1 Before anything, head over to the Microsoft Store and download the PowerToys application. (Direct download link)
Step: 2 Now open the application and check if the Advanced Paste is enabled or not. It must be enabled by default but in case it is not, you can just turn on the toggle to activate it.
Step: 3 To use the Advanced Paste feature, press the Windows key + Shift + V. This will bring up the menu in front of you.
That’s it. Your Advanced Paste feature is now activated. However, there’s a catch; to use its AI functionality, you will have to set up an API key of OpenAI, which indirectly means that you need to pay for it.
But if you have already bought the OpenAI API keys (not ChatGPT Plus), then log in to your respective OpenAI account, go to the Create New Secret Key option and give it any random name, but make sure to remember it for later use.
Now copy the API keys, open the PowerToys app, click on Advanced Paste and then click on to enable button right next to “Enable Paste with AI” to open a prompt box. Paste your API keys in the box and press Save. You are now ready to explore the Advanced Paste feature in its all glory.
Final Words
Advanced Paste is a very great feature. It’s the best when used with the Open AI keys and that’s paid, but you can also use it for free to get a more streamlined experience than the regular clipboard feature. You can make use of this tool in a thousand different ways. It can help you to store important images and files which you need to use often.
