Simulator racing games are quite popular for realistic situations and environments. Of course, the graphics do play a role in it, but the realism is why games such as Gran Turismo are quite popular and loved by people of all ages. The first-ever Gran Turismo game was released way back in 1997 for the PlayStation 1. It’s been 24 years since the first game and there are enough games in the series to play for days. A new Gran Turismo game on the Horizon for PS5 and probably the PS4. Check about Gran Turismo 7 Release Date, Trailer, Gameplay, System Requirement, and more.

The Gran Turismo games gained popularity alongside the PS2, which is still today one of the highest sold consoles ever in PlayStation history. In fact, for the PS2 there were five other Gran Turismo games released for it. Each PlayStation generation got a new Gran Turismo game. The last released Gran Turismo game was Gran Turismo Sport which came out in 2017 for the PS4. With the PS5 almost turning a year old this year, Gran Turismo 7 is expected to be coming soon for PS5 and maybe for PS4 too. Let’s take a look at the game’s release date, trailer, gameplay, and other news.

Gran Turismo 7 Release Date

Gran Turismo 7 Release Date

Gran Turismo 7 was announced by Polyphony Digital in 2019 with an expected release date of 2021. However, in 2020 the global pandemic has caused a lot of games to be delayed and shifted to a later release date. Instead of the game releasing this year, Sony has announced that Gran Turismo 7 will be delayed and launched somewhere in 2022. So, we still have a year to wait for more announcements till the game has a fixed release date for 2022.

Gran Turismo 7 Trailer

Gran Turismo 7 Trailer

The only Gran Turismo 7 trailer we have is the official announcement trailer for the game that was released in 2019. Apart from the trailer, there isn’t anything much that was revealed by Sony as well as the developers themselves. The game never made an appearance at E3 2020 and as well as E3 2021. However, we can hope they have a special show for the Gran Turismo 7 at least by the end of this year (considering that half of the year is remaining).

Gran Turismo 7 Gameplay

Gran Turismo 7 Gameplay

The only Gran Turismo 7 gameplay footage available is from the announce trailer. It shows off a few cars, a cockpit view as well as a stunning environment. We get to see a glimpse of what the main screen of the game looks like. The trailer shows off the garage as well as the Aston Martin DB11 from 2016. There is the return of the tuning shop, a place that almost everyone will be spending time there tuning and setting the car they prefer for the race they will take part in later on. The tuning shop is where you will be adding or removing parts for the car to improve its performance.

The GT World is where you will be able to choose various kinds of circuits to race around. Be it the Americas, Europe, or Asia/Oceania. Each circuit lets your play through four kinds of activities. Single Race, Circuit Experience, Time Trial and Drift Trial. Your racing screen will comprise the following. Your position and lap number will be placed at the top left followed by the leaderboard right below it. The map is positioned at the top right with details of the car such as tires, speed, and other important details will be at the bottom of the screen. Your current lap timing will be at the top part of the screen.

The main screen of the game also has other areas such as the Used Cars section, where we could expect buying and selling of cars online by players all over. This would be a great feature considering that you wouldn’t have to spend way too much in-game currency to buy brand new cars. In terms of graphics, there is a new trailer that shows off the ray tracing on the PS5 in Gran Turismo 7. So, we can expect to play the game at around 120 FPS in the highest resolution of 4K, which be outstanding for a racing simulator game like this.

In true Gran Turismo spirit, we hope to see the split-screen mode come back in Gran Turismo 7. The mode has been there since the early Gran Turismo days. And if it ever does show up in the game it will be fantastic, if not, well it’s going to be a huge disappointment, not like the sales will drop, players will just be a bit unhappy with a missing feature. As for its availability on the PS4, well yes the game will be available for PS4 players since it’s still tough to get hands-on the PS5, and with scalpers running around clearing away stock, it is only good that the game shops up for the PS4.

Gran Turismo 7 Beta Testing

Quite recently there was a start quest option on the PlayStation Experience page.  All players had to do was sign up for the beta with a code that does not work anymore. However, it was available only in a select few regions and now when you visit the page nothing shows up. Well, at least it’s something we can hope for and get to see even more details of the game in the coming months.

Gran Turismo 7 System Requirements

There is no doubt that the Gran Turismo 7 will also be a PlayStation exclusive game considering all other games from the Gran Turismo series are only available for Playstation. But it will not be available for all Playstations since old PS can’t handle its graphics. Gran Turismo 7 can release for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Like other Gran Turismo, it will also be not available for the PC platform. We don’t know if the game publisher can make an exception.

Update 18th September: Gameplay and Release Date revealed for Gran Turismo 7 Revealed

The release date for Gran Turismo has finally been revealed. We got to see a new gameplay trailer during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase event. The trailer shows off the various tracks that you would be racing at and more even the customization screen where you can design and set up your liveries. Plus the new photo mode and the second-hand car market make its entry into the new Gran Turismo game. The game will be releasing on the PlayStation 4 and 5 on the 4th of March 2022.

Conclusion

Well, it’s been around 4 years since the last Gran Turismo came out, and with the new Gran Turismo 7 there are a lot of cool things that we can the developers bring back, and like myself, many people are hyped up for the game. Yes, it’s a PlayStation exclusive game, though it would be nice if by any chance the game would be ported out to PC since we already saw a few PlayStation exclusive games which are now available to play on PC. At least a few months after its release if the game gets a PC port it would be quite interesting to play it on the by then launched Windows 11 OS which is quite optimized for gaming.
