Google releases Android 12 Beta 5 (RC) Update with Material You Clock Widget

Google has been diligently working on Android 12 for the past few months. The most exciting version of Android, aka, the Android 12, just received its last beta update, in the form of, the fifth beta. The latest build will collect last-minute feedback from users. This patch allows developers to optimize their apps for the upcoming version of Android by using the new APIs and SDK. Read along to know more about the Android 12 beta 5 update.

The last beta also means that this is a release candidate (RC) build. For those who don’t know what is a release candidate, RC is the last patch in the beta line of Android 12 and it has almost all the features coming with the final update. If everything goes fine with this release, then we can expect the stable build within a week or two. However, Google mentions that the public release is still a few weeks away.

Google plants the Android 12 beta 5 with SPB5.210812.002, it weighs around 120MB for downloading. The monthly security patch is the same as the previous build. Yes, this build is based on the August 2021 monthly security patch. As always, the beta first hits the pixel line phones.

After updating your Pixel to the newest beta 5 update, you can access the Material You clock widget. Talking about the other features, then you can use all the features of Android 12 from the previous beta builds.

If you are already using the Android 12 Beta, then you will get the OTA update directly on your Pixel phone. In case if you don’t get the notification for the update, you can check it manually. You can check for the update by going to Settings > System > Software Update. And then tap on download and install to get Android 12 beta 5 on your Pixel.
