Google has just released the April security update for Pixel devices. The update brings critical vulnerability patches and addresses a bunch of known issues across all Pixel devices.
Google kicks off the new software upgrade to the eligible devices globally with the CP1A.260405.005 build number. Whereas, the Pixel 6 series in Australia is getting this update with the CP1A.260405.003.A1 firmware version. It is a small upgrade with a download size of 60MB; you can quickly install it on your device.
For compatibility, if you own a Pixel 6 or newer, you will receive the update on your device. The update is also available for the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold.
In terms of changes, the update goes live with a bunch of enhancements and fixes, here’s the official changelog available on the Pixel Support page.

- Fix for an issue where the Backup menu was missing from System settings in certain conditions*[2]
- Fix for an issue that causes certain banking and third-party apps to crash in certain conditions*[1]
- Display & Graphics
- Fix for some games to crash in certain conditions*[4]
- User Interface
- Fix for an issue where the quick search bar is sometimes missing from the home screen in certain conditions*[1]
- WiFi
- Fix for Quick Share to crash during file transfers in certain conditions*[3]
Device Applicability
Fixes are available for all supported Pixel devices unless otherwise indicated below. Some fixes may be Carrier/Region specific.

At the moment, the update is rolling out in a staged manner. You will receive the update OTA notification once available on your device. You can tap it to download the update, or go to Settings > System > Advanced > System update to install the new software.
You can also manually install the April 2026 update on your Pixel phone by sideloading the update. The factory images and OTA files are already available. But make sure to take a backup before sideloading the new software.
