Last week Apple officially confirmed the iPhone event which will be held on September 7. That means iOS 16 is also just two weeks away from a public build. It is expected to be released the same week when the new iPhones will be available. As the public build release nears, today Apple released iOS 16 Dev Beta 8.
We thought beta 7 would be the last beta, but Apple never fails to surprise us. Now with the new beta, the update timeline is perfectly aligned with the event and iPhone 14 release. The latest iOS 16 beta 8 should be the last beta update before the release candidate build which is expected next week.
This week Apple only releases iOS 16 beta 8 and no other OS beta updates. The new beta update for iPhones comes with build number 20A5358a. Now that this is probably the last beta, we don’t expect any major changes. But we can expect some bug fixes as Apple has to make the update ready for public release.
Update: Apple rolls out the sixth beta of iOS 16 to the public, it weighs around 225MB in size.
Currently, the iOS 16 Beta 8 update is available to only developers. But soon the update will be available for public beta testers. It may be available in a few hours or it may take a day. If you’re on beta 7 you can easily update to beta 8 by going to Settings > General > Software Update. But make sure to charge your iPhone to 50% and back up your data.
If you want to try out the iOS 16 Beta and iPadOS 16 Beta you can follow the detailed installation guide here. In case you want to downgrade, you can follow this guide. Or you can wait out for the Public build as it will release soon in two weeks.
