Apple starts the week with two new beta updates for iOS 17 beta users. Last week Apple released the fourth developer beta of iOS 17 with some new features and changes. But due to a major bug related to macOS 14, the tech giant has re-released beta 4 to Developers. This seems to be the reason for the Public Beta delay as well.
After missing out on an update from the last two weeks, Public beta testers can now get their hands on another iOS 17 beta which should be similar to the iOS 17 Developer Beta 4 Re-release.
Today Apple also re-released iPadOS 17 Beta 4, and macOS 14 Beta 4. Talking about public beta updates, this week’s portfolio includes iOS 17 Public Beta 2, iPadOS 17 Public Beta 2, watchOS 10 Public Beta 2, macOS 14 Public Beta 2, tvOS 17 Public Beta 2, and HomePod 17 Public Beta 2.
iOS 17 Public Beta 2, and iOS 17 Developer Beta 4 Re-release come with build number 21A5291j. The build is also the same for new iPadOS builds.
The re-release build only comes with bug fixes and weighs around 400MB. Whereas the second iOS 17 Public Beta comes with all new features and changes added in the iOS 17 Developer Beta 4 last month. Here is the list of known changes.
- New Modem update
- Updated menu icons in Messages
- There is a new option under AirDrop to disable sharing when two devices are close together
- New option in Standby to show preview of notifications on Tap only
- Some icon changes in Settings
- Horizontal text preference in Display & Text Size Settings
The second public beta of iOS 17 and Developer Beta 4 re-release of iOS 17 are available to public beta testers and developers respectively.
