Yesterday, Apple released iOS 16.6 to the public, and today, the company seeds the fourth beta of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 to developers. Apple is continuously working on iOS 17 beta along with iOS 16 updates. The new betas for iPhone and iPad come with some improvements and interesting changes, which we will discuss below.
Actually, this is the fifth beta Apple has released for iOS 17 since its launch. This is due to two third betas, including one re-release. There will likely be more iOS 17 beta updates before iOS 17 releases to the public. There is still more than a month before iOS 17 comes out.
Apart from the iOS 17 Beta 4 and iPadOS 17 Beta 4, today Apple also released watchOS 10 Beta 4, tvOS 17 Beat 4, macOS Sonoma 14 Beta 4, and visionOS 1.0 Beta 2. The fourth beta of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 come with 21A5291h. And the fourth beta will weigh based on your current iOS version.

Coming to the changes and features, since this is a beta update, you will not find the changelog on the update page. The release notes show many changes. However, as the update has been released just now, I haven’t found many changes yet. But once I do, I will add them below as a list.
- Updated menu icons in Messages
- There is a new option under AirDrop to disable sharing when two devices are close together
- New option in Standby to show preview of notifications on Tap only
- Some icon changes in Settings
- Horizontal text preference in Display & Text Size Settings
The fourth beta of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 are currently available to developers. Soon it will be available to public beta testers as well in a day or two. It will be the second Public beta but it will be the same as the fourth developer beta. If you are on an iOS 17 beta, you will see the fourth beta on the update page. To check for the update go to Settings > General > Software Update. If you want to join iOS 17 Beta, you can check this guide.
